General Information
Trips to Oshkosh became an annual event for Aviation Explorer Post 218
of Racine, Wisconsin. A desire to open the program up to other Posts
resulted in what is now the Aviation Explorer Base. Starting with a
small group of scouts in 1993. The program has grown to 98 Explorers
this year. Include the adult advisers, and there are 125 people, not
including staff, camping at the Explorer Base. Campers come from
Aviation Explorer Posts all over the country and have included attendees
from England and Poland. They all arrived on Sunday and will depart next
Sunday, after a full week at EAA AirVenture. |

What We
Do
Campers come from Aviation
Explorer Posts all over the
country and have included attendees from England and
Poland.
They all arrived on Sunday and will depart next Sunday,
after
a full week at EAA AirVenture.
Our Facilities
Our Facilities are
Nestled in the heart of the AirVenture Grounds
next to the Civil Air Patrol Encampment. We have
full cooking facilities and room for around 150
registered Explorers to camp. Our area is within
walking distance to bathroom and showering
facilities. The Explorer Base is open field
camping. All participants must provide their own
shelter, i.e. tents, small camping trailer,
etc. Limited electricity is available, if
necessary. Pre-planning is essential to ensure
each participant has a place to stay. Keep in
mind that this is an Explorer Camp and BSA
guidelines for camping activities will be
strictly enforced. |
